
Kyiv-based editor, archival researcher, and member of the Kinotron Group. After studying Cultural Studies at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, he collaborated on cataloging the archive of the Kyiv Studio of Popular Science Film. In his own directorial practice, he uses found footage to engage with the traditions of the film essay, science film, and political cinema. His debut film, Under the Sign of Anchor (2024), won the main DOCU/SHORT award at Docudays UA.
As an editor of unscripted cinema, Spivak focuses on building cohesive narratives out of complex materials. Working primarily with research-driven non-fiction, essay films, and found footage, he collaborates closely with directors to make precise structural decisions and shape the film's story.
Films he edited have been screened at Berlinale, Rotterdam IFF, Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage, Docudays UA, Hamburg Kurzfilmtage. The most recent films Spivak finished are Special Operation (2025) and Where Russia Ends (2024) by Oleksiy Radynski, alongside I Do Not See When Shooting (2026) by Anastasia Stetsenko.
